Vintage Halloween

Posted Meagan Kyla Hendrickson Halloween Style

The count down to Halloween is now 51 days and I just can't apologize for being super excited! The store is filled with kooky spooky fun, like the Moon Faces Spooksville Dress that are inspired by vintage Halloween art from the 1920s and beyond. As a retro lover, it's no surprise that we are all drawn to these wonderful images whether it's on clothing, tattoo art, the actual vintage decorations or reproductions. Black cats, witches and jack-o-lanterns, oh my!

One of the most iconic images is the black cat which appears on the Lucy Fur Vintage Cat Handbag (limited edition!) and the (re-stocked in October) Lucy Fur Vintage Cat Sweater. One of the originators of popularizing Halloween decorations in America, the Beistle Company, has this iconic cat (amongst other recognizable images) on everything from paper plates, honeycomb decorations, paper cut-outs, etc. Since the 1920s, the Beistle Company has been an inspiration and a large part of Halloween Americana.

Oh yes, what an inspiration Beistle Company and other vintage Halloween decor brands (such as Empire Plastics, Union Products, etc.) have been on our home. I took our love of collecting vintage blow molds, chalkware, noise makers, and kitsch to decorate our kitsch-en with colors and pieces inspired by Halloween.
